Gay Books Vandalized at Harvard

By Julie Bolcer

Nearly 40 books about gay and lesbian issues at a Harvard University library were drenched in urine in an incident that police are investigating as a hate crime.

The Associated Press reports, “Security staff at Lamont Library said in a report filed with campus police on Friday that it appeared someone poured urine on the books on Nov. 24. An empty bottle was found nearby.”
A school librarian said the books, worth several thousands of dollars, will be discarded. A spokeman for the school’s LGBT student group called the crime “disconcerting.”
